  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community
How does working with others to clean up your community make you feel?

    Tristin Ware 7/31/2023 7:28 AM
Knowing that there are other people that want to make the community a better place gives me hope. I really enjoy when my kids make an effort to pick something up or fish a plastic bag out of the water!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Bathroom
What did you learn by making your own cleaning products? What is the biggest difference in making vs buying?

    Tristin Ware's avatar
    Tristin Ware 7/31/2023 7:27 AM
I like making my own products because I know what goes into each thing and I can make larger quantities for less money. Vinegar is a great cleaning agent.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Study
As you have reduced your spending, what have you noticed about your 'health and safety' purchasing habits? How might this change your longer term purchasing decisions?

    Tristin Ware's avatar
    Tristin Ware 7/31/2023 7:24 AM
This has not been easy especially with kids and their "wants". I notice that often times the healthier foods do not go on sale so I look for what is in season.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Kitchen
How can you think outside the box (or bag!) when it comes to disposables?

    Tristin Ware's avatar
    Tristin Ware 7/31/2023 7:23 AM
I think about whether or not I need to buy something first. I also look for something that I can buy in bulk rather than individually wrapped.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Bedroom
How can you express your personality, creativity, and values in ways that don't require fast fashion or buying more clothes and accessories?

    Tristin Ware's avatar
    Tristin Ware 7/29/2023 1:14 PM
I love going to art shows. There is a local artist who is very talented and up-cycles to create amazing wearable art. I will share by wearing her art!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Bedroom
What are the benefits (to people, animals, and the environment) of purchasing clothes made with natural fibers?

    Tristin Ware's avatar
    Tristin Ware 7/28/2023 9:31 AM
As clothes wear down and are washed at least natural fibers are wearing off verse synthetic. This hopefully leads to less micro-plastics!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Kitchen
How does swapping out prepackaged snacks for fresh fruit or veggies benefit your family?

    Tristin Ware's avatar
    Tristin Ware 7/28/2023 9:28 AM
I have two school aged kids and it is very easy for them to pick processed snacks. I have started having them participate more in packing their lunches and I always ask them what healthy option are you having!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Family + Pets
Had you ever considered the environmental impact of balloons before? How can you share this information with your friends and family to encourage them to avoid balloons, too?

    Tristin Ware's avatar
    Tristin Ware 7/25/2023 11:54 AM
Yes, I have considered the environmental impact of balloons. Having kids it is hard to turn them down especially at big celebrations but I have been working on finding alternatives like paper decorations.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Kitchen
With the added mindfulness of reducing your packaging, what have you noticed about the amount and type of single use plastics used for packaging when you shop in the grocery store?

    Tristin Ware's avatar
    Tristin Ware 7/25/2023 9:53 AM
I find going to the grocery store more difficult each time. The more I go the more I notice how much packaging goes into each item. I have been good about asking the baggers to not use more plastic to wrap items, however I find it difficult to find any items at the store that don't have some plastic!

I agree, it’s such a challenge! Especially things like hand soap, dish Soap, and laundry detergent. Although, I have started using laundry sheets with no plastic packaging and I love them!

Our dog Chewy is a rescue and loves everyone. He is a short hair but still sheds so we brush him and use a lent brush on clothes and furniture!
