The month flew by! I am glad to continue to implement the changes I learned on this years challenge
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

What did you learn about your ecological footprint by using the calculator? What did or didn't surprise you? What are some ways you will take action to reduce your footprint?

I was surprised and worried about my eco footprint. It surprised me how much my food choices have impact but also am proud of my transportation footprint since I drive a fully electric car and often carpool. I think food waste and food packaging changed I introduced this month will help
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Study
What did you learn about the waste you create? Where can you reduce the most?

    Felicia Mapa's avatar
    Felicia Mapa 7/31/2023 1:35 PM
I learned that so many products that I regularly purchase create so much waste. From food products to household items, to hobby items, they create so much waste. Being more conscious and buying less or refilling household products or using reusable storage has helped reduce waste

How easy was this swap for you? Did you have any concerns before making it?

    Felicia Mapa's avatar
    Felicia Mapa 7/31/2023 1:34 PM
This swap was difficult but once you get into a routine, it was easy
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

What are the benefits (to people, animals, and the environment) of purchasing clothes made with natural fibers?

    Felicia Mapa's avatar
    Felicia Mapa 7/31/2023 1:33 PM
The benefits to people animals and environment of purchasing clothes made with natural fibers is that personally for me, I have eczema and sensitive skin so natural fibers do not irritate my skin. When washing clothes without microplastics, then those plastics dont end up in the option or being ingested by animals
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

How can you express your personality, creativity, and values in ways that don't require fast fashion or buying more clothes and accessories?

    Felicia Mapa's avatar
    Felicia Mapa 7/31/2023 1:31 PM
There are many ways to express personality, creativity, and values that don't require fast fashion is to only purchase clothing from sustainable companies or only investing in a capsule wardrobe that can be style multiple ways.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Bedroom
Often, single-use and disposable products don't just create more trash - they also contain toxins that are bad for humans. What are some other single-use items that are harmful to humans?

    Felicia Mapa's avatar
    Felicia Mapa 7/31/2023 1:29 PM
A single use plastic off the top of my head that could be harmful are single use menstrual products such as tampons
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Study
As you have reduced your spending, what have you noticed about your 'health and safety' purchasing habits? How might this change your longer term purchasing decisions?

    Felicia Mapa's avatar
    Felicia Mapa 7/31/2023 1:28 PM
Health and safety in my everyday life and in general the health of our environment and planet as a whole have increased but have a greater impact, and a positive one versus a negative one when making wasteful purchases
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Study
How might styrofoam be an environmental justice and/or environmental racism issue in your community?

    Felicia Mapa's avatar
    Felicia Mapa 7/31/2023 1:27 PM
Styrofoam and plastic pollution are definitely environmental justice issues. Statistically, people of color suffer as a result of plastic production and disposal more than others.
