REFLECTION QUESTIONStudyAs you have reduced your spending, what have you noticed about your 'health and safety' purchasing habits? How might this change your longer term purchasing decisions?
Allie Tilson 7/19/2023 12:33 PMI'm already pretty frugal when it comes to non-food purchases (big sweet tooth). While it is good reduce purchasing, it is also important to not take it too far. For example, sometimes you just need new underwear. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunityHow does the act of picking up litter connect you more to your community?
Allie Tilson 7/19/2023 12:27 PMIt certainly makes me look around and notice more about my community. Following a trail of trash has also led me to go to new places in my neighborhood. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONKitchenHow easy was this swap for you? Did you have any concerns before making it?
Allie Tilson 7/17/2023 5:25 AMIt was very easy. The pods from A Drop in the Ocean work well. My issue is remembering to order more. Often I will run out and then go to the convenient option "just for now" and fall out of the habit.-
Kimberly Lombardozzi 7/17/2023 8:32 AMThanks for sharing. I just ordered the laundry detergent. The produce bags look interesting also. When they are back in stock, I'll try them out!

REFLECTION QUESTIONBathroomWhat have you noticed about the economic and social impact of switching to steel razors? Was there ever really a need for disposable razors, or do you think it was just a way to sell more things?
Allie Tilson 7/16/2023 2:27 PMThis was the very first plastic free July pledge I tried many years ago and it failed. I finally decided to give it another try with a different product and was pleasantly surprised. So far so good. I think I will use it again.-
Ginni La Rosa-Ponsini 7/16/2023 8:21 PMCongrats! I was intimidated by the safety razor and blades for a few years too, but now that I've gotten comfortable with it I'll never go back to plastic razors! It's a bit of a learning curve, but I think it's worth it :)

REFLECTION QUESTIONBedroomWas this an easy or difficult swap for you to make? Did you have any concerns before making the swap?
Allie Tilson 7/14/2023 3:23 PMWe tried detergent sheets. They smell really nice.-
Ginni La Rosa-Ponsini 7/14/2023 7:47 PMWhich brand do you use? Are they effective at cleaning your clothes the same way as your previous detergent? I've tried one type before with mixed results and want to hear other people's thoughts. Thanks!

REFLECTION QUESTIONKitchenBesides having access to fresh herbs and vegetables, what benefits will you see from growing your own garden?
-
Allie Tilson 7/12/2023 5:03 PMHusband called to stop and buy a couple things for dinner. Of course I didn't have any totes with me so I carried everything out in my hands. Employee asked and I explained it was plastic free July! (And to join the aquarium team)-
Patricia Jonas 7/13/2023 4:16 AMWhen I see people leaving the store with their items in their hands, I secretly hope that they are jugglers and will show us their skills!!! But good on you to help recruit for the team!

Allie Tilson 7/11/2023 10:47 AMHallie's Lunch and Learn about hosting a cleanup and the Nature Conservancy's International Coastal Cleanup data was great! Thanks for sharing the information and providing a space for us to gain points! -
Allie Tilson 7/10/2023 7:02 AMI usually pick up litter as I go throughout my day. Now, I'm finding that I need to plan it out a bit around the heat and humidity.-
Ginni La Rosa-Ponsini 7/10/2023 6:05 PMI agree that it's a challenge in the summer! My work commute involves a substantial walk that often has trash lying around, but it's been trickier to plan it since I'm on vacation this week...
