Kris Hay 7/13/2023 12:37 PMWe’ve been using GuppyFriend washing bags and have been satisfied with the results. Our synthetic clothing is all relatively old, so we don’t see much coming off of them. But like a lingerie bag, there is supposedly some protection to the contents so perhaps the bags are extending the lifespan of the clothing?

REFLECTION QUESTIONBedroomWhich microfiber solution did you choose? How has it changed your laundry routine?
Susan Sturgill 7/13/2023 5:11 AMBought a CoraBall, washed a double load at the laundromat. My easy care no-iron clothes are majority synthetic but I saw no evidence of microfibers in the ball. So micro I can't see them? Or maybe a CoraBall isn't that great. Further research showed that the ball only catches 30% of microplastics at best. Oh well, better than nothing and from now on I need to be more careful about the fabrics in my clothes. -
Susan Sturgill 7/09/2023 6:42 AMAwareness is everything. I had no idea I was using so much plastic. Rethinking online shopping from some retailers because of all the plastic they use in packaging and shipping.-
Krystina Jarvis 7/09/2023 7:08 AMThat's why I love this challenge so much. I've been living a zero waste lifestyle for 6 years now and still every year during this challenge I'm made aware of where I've been slipping or just haven't been seeing the plastic im using. Awareness is everything, for sure!

REFLECTION QUESTIONKitchenHow difficult was this challenge for you? What made it easy or difficult?
Susan Sturgill 7/09/2023 6:39 AMproduce bags are hard - how to keep my peaches from rolling around? I'll work on a solution. Of course I always recycle plastic grocery bags but it's surprisingly easy to take my own and I found a great brand (reisenthal) that stuff into a little bag and hold a TON. way better than grocery bags.-
Krystina Jarvis 7/09/2023 7:11 AMHave you tried reusable produce bags yet, Susan? Or maybe some small boxes you can keep in your car for things like peaches? I typically just keep all of my produce loose but peaches are so delicate they can always use a little extra care!
