Stephanie Steppie Royes 7/31/2023 2:41 PMTime to say goodbye to July: -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunityLandfills and recycling centers tell us a lot about our communities and purchasing habits. What did you glean from your tour?
Stephanie Steppie Royes 7/31/2023 2:39 PMI learned about what is accepted and what is not. For example: having many used scooter batteries, I learned that no centers accept them. But there are organizations that do accept them so they won't end up in a pile in our apartment or in a land fill that would do damage to our environment even more. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunityIn what neighborhoods or areas of your region are landfills or other waste sites located? Which communities are most affected by these locations?
Stephanie Steppie Royes 7/31/2023 2:36 PMWe have our local landfills but of what I've learned, they are strict on what they allow to be dropped off. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunityIn what ways is social media an effective tool for sharing your values?
Stephanie Steppie Royes 7/31/2023 2:35 PMIt educates, inspires and motivates family and friends to do what they can foe the planet - and they share the posts so their family and friends see it. #RippleEffect -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunityWhat did you and your family learn about environmental justice? What questions came up for you? What feelings?
Stephanie Steppie Royes 7/31/2023 2:33 PMRacism is inexorably linked to climate change because it dictates who benefits from activities that produce planet warming gases and who suffers most from the consequences. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFamily + PetsHad you ever considered the environmental impact of balloons before? How can you share this information with your friends and family to encourage them to avoid balloons, too?
Stephanie Steppie Royes 7/30/2023 2:52 PMWe cringe every time we see a balloon release on the news.-
Guy Tillis 7/30/2023 5:10 PMBalloons never needed to be used for commemorating a person's passing. They are harmful to animals.

REFLECTION QUESTIONFamily + PetsHow can you and your little one exercise your creativity without creating more plastic waste?
Stephanie Steppie Royes 7/30/2023 2:51 PMGlitter is not allowed in our house!-

REFLECTION QUESTIONFamily + PetsHow are caring for your pet and caring for the environment connected for you?
Stephanie Steppie Royes 7/30/2023 2:50 PMEverything that I purchase for my pet has to be either recyclable or reusable. The food and toy companies will get my business if they don't waste with unnecessary packaging.-
Guy Tillis 7/30/2023 5:19 PM

REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunitySingle use plastics have become normalized in our society to the point that most people don't see them as a problem. What would you say to a friend, colleague, or family member who may not understand why these disposables are an issue?
Stephanie Steppie Royes 7/30/2023 2:47 PMI would explain the cycle of time that it takes for plastic to decompose and suggest alternative choices. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBathroomCurrently most of the packaging for toothpaste is plastic. How can you advocate for more alternatives through your purchasing power and influence in community?
Stephanie Steppie Royes 7/30/2023 2:44 PMBy advertising other options and even making my own.-
Guy Tillis 7/30/2023 5:16 PMI would advocate why it's better to use more sustainable equipment to make toothbrushes compared to buying plastic ones in stores.
