I take a trunk load plus of plastic over to recycling at least 6X/week. I’m a fanatic dumpster diver!

Great! But it also makes me sad because I am always looking at all the trash everywhere I go and I just can’t pick it all up!

What did you learn by making your own cleaning products? What is the biggest difference in making vs buying?

Much cheaper and made from products I have on hand at home. No new plastic!

I have never switched to that bottled body soap. Ever since I lived in Greece in the 80’s I have used olive oil bar soap that I buy whenever I am visiting Greece. Doesn’t dry my skin out and a bar lasts forever.

I don’t need to be reminded. I’m a plastic maniac and dumpster dive for plastic every time I see a garbage can!

What are the economic and personal benefits of switching to bar soap/shampoo/conditioner or refillable bottle options?

I like my bar soap (olive oil) and it lasts much longer. No new plastic containers.

It took me a while to get used to bar soap when I ditched the plastic bottled body wash. I found the soap saver sissel bags really helped me adjust. The bar soap really does last longer too. I have found some amazing, skin nourishing, handcrafted soaps on Etsy....

I don’t collect pieces I can count. I collect big bags full of plastic.

We have our students do this every day on our big field. One of my coworker got them trash grabbers and paper bags to make it easier

I can't count the pieces of plastic I recycle. Thursday I made 2 trips to empty my trunk. Friday I made one trip.
