Katy's actions
Kitchen
Use Reusable Utensils
I will keep 3 plastic cutlery out of the landfill per day by using my own reusable cutlery.
Kitchen
Fill a Water Bottle
I will use a reusable bottle and stop purchasing bottled water, saving 4 disposable plastic bottle(s) a day.
Kitchen
Glass Bottle Baby
I will replace 2 plastic bottles with glass or stainless steel alternatives.
Kitchen
Go Strawless
I will keep 2 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill per day by refusing straws or using my own reusable straw.
Kitchen
Choose Reusable Food Storage
I will only use reusable containers instead of single-use plastic storage items (such as plastic wrap, single-use sandwich bags).
Kitchen
Plastic Free Lunch Boxes
I will only pack reusable cutlery, drinkware and containers in my family's lunches to reduce plastic waste.
Kitchen
Minimize Packaging
I will purchase food items with the least amount of packaging.
Kitchen
Use a Reusable Mug
If possible, I will avoid sending 1 disposable cup(s) to the landfill per day by using a reusable mug or bringing my own travel cup.
Bathroom
Homemade or Refillable Cleaners
I will make my own cleaning products or choose plastic-free, refillable options.
Bedroom
Natural Fibers
When available, I will purchase clothing and bedding made with natural fibers, such as cotton, linen, or wool, rather than synthetic fibers.
Kitchen
Skip Plastic Bags
When possible, I will not use disposable bags when shopping, including produce bags.

Katy Runnells 7/19/2023 5:51 PMAn easy way to reduce plastic if you have cats is to use a reusable litter pail! petco offers this and you get a discount when you take it back in to fill it up!-
Lizzy Simpson 7/21/2023 9:31 AMIt’s also the only litter that doesn’t smell like litter or anything! We have 5 cats and you wouldn’t know it which is amazing! When the handles have broken I’ve taken the buckets to work and used them for storage -
Susan Rubin 7/20/2023 5:44 AMThis has been a difficult issue for me. Having a cat and litter box. If you don't use a liner, water is wasted scrubbing a litter box and if you use a liner it is plastic. Plus the waste is noncompatible.

Katy Runnells 7/17/2023 2:34 PMAnother easy thing to do to reduce plastic if you have cats is that petco has refillable litter! You just use the same bucket over and over again!-
Lizzy Simpson 7/29/2023 7:37 PMIt’s also the only litter that doesn’t smell like litter! We have 5 cats and you would never know when you come over. -
Connie Peterson 7/20/2023 2:27 PMI see people carrying out their litter buckets all the time! I'm never in that part of the store so I was curious and looked. I think that's a pretty cool option!! Way to go!
