  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Family + Pets
What concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.

    Tessa Robinson's avatar
    Tessa Robinson 7/30/2023 5:10 PM
Our plastic consumption and our general overconsumption of material goods like clothes and electronics. Also the use of fossil fuels as an energy source
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Study
What did you learn about the waste you create? Where can you reduce the most?

    Tessa Robinson's avatar
    Tessa Robinson 7/30/2023 5:08 PM
The waste I can reduce the most is plastic packaging bought from supermarkets. I just wish it was easier to buy food in stores that doesn't have plastic wrapping but I could make a greater effort to go to stores where you can use your own reusable containers to top up
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Bathroom
What are the benefits of switching to bamboo toothbrushes? How would you implore others in your community to make this switch as well?

    Tessa Robinson's avatar
    Tessa Robinson 7/30/2023 5:05 PM
The benefits are so huge and it's so easy to switch to bamboo - there's literally no reason to use a plastic brush
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community
In what neighborhoods or areas of your region are landfills or other waste sites located? Which communities are most affected by these locations?

    Tessa Robinson's avatar
    Tessa Robinson 7/30/2023 4:59 PM
There aren't any landfill sites close to where I live. There is a recycling facility close to me which is interesting to know. The landfill sites tend to be further out of the city in lower income areas, affecting those living there unfortunately

Would be good to check out your local council too - sometimes they organise e-waste collection days!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Study
Were you surprised by what the different plastic identification numbers mean? How can this information help you become a better recycler?

    Tessa Robinson's avatar
    Tessa Robinson 7/30/2023 4:51 PM
I was very surprised about the different plastic numbers. I thought if it was in this number system that you could recycle this so I'm appalled and ashamed that I would've been putting plastics into recycling bins that can't actually be recycled :(
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Kitchen
Was this action easy or difficult to do? How did it change your travel experience?

    Tessa Robinson's avatar
    Tessa Robinson 7/30/2023 4:40 PM
I often take warm leftovers with me for lunches so this was a bit more tricky given when you are travelling you don't have access to a fridge to keep the food good. Sandwiches were a great alternative!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Family + Pets
Had you ever considered the environmental impact of balloons before? How can you share this information with your friends and family to encourage them to avoid balloons, too?

    Tessa Robinson's avatar
    Tessa Robinson 7/30/2023 4:37 PM
I probably haven't thought about this enough before but I tend to only use balloons for special occasions. I always feel upset when I see them drift into the sky but of course they would still cause the same damage going to landfill. I will aim to use alternative decorations for celebrations now
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Bedroom
The simple act of hang drying your laundry can be an act of mindfulness. Where else in your daily routine can you make mindfulness a practice?

    Tessa Robinson's avatar
    Tessa Robinson 7/30/2023 4:33 PM
You can make any eco process into an act of mindfulness - for e.g. creating a new recipe that is more sustainable, taking a walk and collecting rubbish from the street
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Bedroom
What are the benefits (to people, animals, and the environment) of purchasing clothes made with natural fibers?

    Tessa Robinson's avatar
    Tessa Robinson 7/30/2023 4:31 PM
Using clothes and bedding with natural fibres have production processes that are less harmful to the planet
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Bedroom
How can you express your personality, creativity, and values in ways that don't require fast fashion or buying more clothes and accessories?

    Tessa Robinson's avatar
    Tessa Robinson 7/30/2023 4:26 PM
I just did the quiz to calculate my fashion footprint and I am stoked that my footprint is 94% lower than the average consumer. I have always shopped second hand quite a lot of have taken handmedowns from other people. I only tend to buy what I really need
