Numbers Everywhere

The numbers #1-7 on plastics tell us a lot - and can help us be better recyclers. I will learn what these numbers mean and which types of plastics are accepted for recycling in my area.

I've been buying refillable soap to fill my bottles. It's an easy switch and to me, cheaper in the long run.

I agree! I make more of an effort to make sure every drop of soap is used.

Why do you chew gum? What habits could replace and meet your reasons for chewing gum?

I stopped chewing gum all together because of TMJ. It was getting too painful. So, I've switched to mints. So much easier and way less painful. :-)

same here. No more sore jaws and the mints last longer.

How can you think outside the box (or bag!) when it comes to disposables?

I've been trying my best to stop using ziplock baggies for lunch items. Been saving those small containers and trying harder each day to reduce my waste. If I do have to "sneak" one, I wash it out and throw it in my bag of bags to be recycled.

How difficult was this challenge for you? What made it easy or difficult?

I've been using reusable bags for a long time. I keep some in my desk for when I'm at lunch and need to pick a few things up. And I keep a bunch of them in the car. It' been easy for me.

Definitely will pay more attention to the numbers.

What is the benefit of using bar soaps or refilling your travel sized containers? Is this an action you think you will keep in your life?

I will definitely keep refilling my travel sized containers. It's so much easier and takes up less space.
