I love the planet! I'm glad I've learned information through this challenge to be more mindful of the plastic I'm using.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

What did you and your family learn about environmental justice? What questions came up for you? What feelings?

How I can help is a big question for me, especially when its primarily corporations people are up against.

Seeing our team impact is pretty neat!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community
How does hosting a watch party help you to get to know your guests, connect them to the cause you are focusing on, and build your community?

    Jane Mullen's avatar
    Jane Mullen 7/27/2023 6:31 AM
It allowed us to discuss these issues. You don't know what you don't know, so learning about a particular issue is the first step to doing something about it.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Kitchen
Using the links provided, investigate the bottling practices of water corporations. There have been many cases where the water rights of the local people have been violated or even completely disregarded when a corporation decides to bottle water from a particular water source. How can you advocate for those who have been harmed by this bottling process?

Not purchasing plastic water bottles is a good start, but also encouraging others to use reusable water bottles and discussing the social and environmental impacts of plastic water bottles.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community
What have you learned about what is accepted by local haulers for recycling, what you can drop off or ship to certain places, and what is not recyclable in your area? What is the most difficult part of recycling for you?

    Jane Mullen's avatar
    Jane Mullen 7/26/2023 1:14 PM
The most difficult part of recycling is not necessarily remembering what my local recycling facility will take, so I have to look it up each time I go to recycle something.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community
How does the act of picking up litter connect you more to your community?

    Jane Mullen's avatar
    Jane Mullen 7/26/2023 1:12 PM
Walking around and being observant (to pick up litter) allows for me to notice things or people I normally wouldn't
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Kitchen
How difficult was this challenge for you? What made it easy or difficult?

    Jane Mullen's avatar
    Jane Mullen 7/24/2023 8:14 AM
Not using plastic bags is easy for me, as I previously purchased cotton reusable bags that I bring with me to the grocery.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Family + Pets
How can you and your little one exercise your creativity without creating more plastic waste?

    Jane Mullen's avatar
    Jane Mullen 7/21/2023 11:38 AM
I don't have little ones, but if I do get creative, I could use things like leaves to either create paint or dry them and crumble them for "confetti."
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Bathroom
What are the economic and personal benefits of switching to bar soap/shampoo/conditioner or refillable bottle options?

    Jane Mullen's avatar
    Jane Mullen 7/21/2023 11:37 AM
Buying in bulk is generally cheaper, and bar soap is supposedly better for your skin.
