Study
Numbers Everywhere
The numbers #1-7 on plastics tell us a lot - and can help us be better recyclers. I will learn what these numbers mean and which types of plastics are accepted for recycling in my area.

Follow the Chasing Arrows
The chasing arrows symbol we associate with recycling doesn't always actually mean something is recyclable. I will spend at least 10 minutes learning the different meanings the symbol can have.
Kitchen
Plastic Free Lunch Boxes
I will only pack reusable cutlery, drinkware and containers in my family's lunches to reduce plastic waste.
Kitchen
Swap the Snacks
I will swap out 1 prepackaged snacks a day for fresh fruits or veggies.
Bedroom

REFLECTION QUESTIONBedroomHow can you express your personality, creativity, and values in ways that don't require fast fashion or buying more clothes and accessories?
Alyssa Miller 7/20/2023 8:56 AMI can trade clothes with friends, dig through my closet and revamp something that I haven't worn in a while, and do thrifting! -
Alyssa Miller 7/18/2023 7:33 AMIt was honestly kind of tricky to select my actions, as there were quite a few that I already do regularly. I chose these ones because I knew they would be fairly easy for me to remain consistent with, and didn't require me to buy anything new (i.e. switching out products I use). I didn't select any of those types of actions, because I didn't want to switch to something new when I still had product left that needed used. Seemed less wasteful that way! -
Alyssa Miller 7/10/2023 6:25 AMSo far so good! It takes a bit more attention when prepping my lunch in the morning to make sure that I am avoiding as much single use plastic as possible. But that's the whole point! :) Haven't started on my one-time actions yet, but plan to get to work on those very soon. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONKitchenBeyond reducing waste, there are many benefits to packing zero waste lunches (for kids or yourself!). What other benefits have you noticed from this practice?

REFLECTION QUESTIONKitchenHow does swapping out prepackaged snacks for fresh fruit or veggies benefit your family?
Alyssa Miller 7/04/2023 8:29 AMIt influences us to make healthier choices and get us to eat more fruit and veggies, rather than something like chips or granola bars.
