Plastic has always been a problem. Yes it's convenient, but the destruction to the environment we are learning is immense. If we look at the big picture it seems overwhelming and that we can't do anything, but if each person did just one thing it makes a huge difference. Think about it if you decide not to use plastic straws any longer, and 50,000 other people decide not to use plastic straws any longer how many plastic straws will stop going into the environment. So even though it seems like it's a small scale in reality it makes a huge difference.

Beyond reducing waste, there are many benefits to packing zero waste lunches (for kids or yourself!). What other benefits have you noticed from this practice?

I feel the food is healthier with less additives, which is always healthier.

Iwe are getting ready to go on vacation. At times I know we will be stopping at fast food restaurants and I do not want to use plastic silverware and straws. I went to a thrift store and bought some silverware ($0.25 a piece😁) and have made pouches for each set. The set also includes a reusable straw, this way we will not be using anything plastic when we stop.

What are the economic and personal benefits of switching to bar soap/shampoo/conditioner or refillable bottle options?

I received my refillable eco friendly bathroom soap with a glass dispenser. This will stop me from buying the plastic foaming hand soaps in plastic bottles.
