Styrofoam is inexpensive - much more so than other more ecologically friendly alternatives.

My girls prefer fresh fruit to other snacks, which makes it easy :)
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

How can you express your personality, creativity, and values in ways that don't require fast fashion or buying more clothes and accessories?

    Great resource: https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-60382624

I've been buying about half my clothes second-hand through an app called Poshmark - I also try to upcycle (sell) some clothes
I don't wear anymore. Selling is definitely harder than buying, but it's a good resource.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Bedroom
What are the benefits (to people, animals, and the environment) of purchasing clothes made with natural fibers?

So I have mixed reviews - I bought three shirts made from recycled plastic and fiber material. One feels like scrubs, not great. One is ok - there isn't a lot of stretch to the fabric but it's lighter and less scrub-like than the first. The third shirt seems decent! It's softer and has a bit more stretch to it. I wouldn't order from that company again, but it was good to try something new.

What did you learn about your ecological footprint by using the calculator? What did or didn't surprise you? What are some ways you will take action to reduce your footprint?

I'm at 4.7 earths - the calculator provided through the challenge was more inclusive than most I've done in the past.

How can you think outside the box (or bag!) when it comes to disposables?

    Claire Lannoye-Hall's avatar
    Claire Lannoye-Hall 7/09/2023 9:24 AM
This is an easy one - reusable containers are the standby for leftovers and taking food on the go. Very little effort!
