REFLECTION QUESTIONKitchenWhy do you chew gum? What habits could replace and meet your reasons for chewing gum?
Allison Johnston 7/06/2023 2:58 PMI chew gum to clear my mouth after a meal or coffee when brushing my teeth is not possible. A better option would be to bring stop altogether and look into chewable toothpaste options (such as Lush). -
REFLECTION QUESTIONStudyAs you have reduced your spending, what have you noticed about your 'health and safety' purchasing habits? How might this change your longer term purchasing decisions?
Allison Johnston 7/06/2023 2:56 PMI tend to buy more than I need "just in case". This creates a storage issue that is not worth the clutter. Buying what I need when I need is a better approach. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBathroomEven though they are marketed as "flushable," disposable wipes do not disintegrate in water or the sewer system, and actually release microplastics into our waterways. How does it feel to learn this information? What do you want to do about it?
Allison Johnston 7/06/2023 2:54 PMIt is important to steer clear of flushable wipes. Who wants sewage in their home. We should also avoid flushing other hygiene products down the toilet as they also do not disintegrate in our sewer systems. Not flushing items like this is common practice in Latin American countries but not common practice in the US. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBathroomWhat did you learn by making your own cleaning products? What is the biggest difference in making vs buying?
Allison Johnston 7/06/2023 2:52 PMI use grove cleaning products, which are concentrated and come in small glass containers. I refill my glass spray bottle when I run out of my cleaner. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBathroomWhat is the benefit of using bar soaps or refilling your travel sized containers? Is this an action you think you will keep in your life?
Allison Johnston 7/06/2023 2:51 PMThis is an easy action for me. I used to travel a lot of my previous job and found it is easier to refill containers with the products I prefer to use versus buying new travel size toiletries for every trip. It not only keeps me from buying new items (that may not get used up 100%) but it allows me to keep organized for future trips.
