What did you learn about your ecological footprint by using the calculator? What did or didn't surprise you? What are some ways you will take action to reduce your footprint?

I know that there are many ways that I can reduce my footprint and this all starts with being more sustainable at home! This includes taking shorter showers and running larger loads of laundry to eliminate the need for multiple loads. One thing I have started to implement already through is running the dishwasher more often rather than hand washing dishes because it's more efficient.

What have you noticed about the economic and social impact of switching to steel razors? Was there ever really a need for disposable razors, or do you think it was just a way to sell more things?

I am trying to use up the last of the razors that I currently have before I make the permanent switch. What I have always noticed though is that shaving products typically geared towards women (pink razors or overly fragrant shaving cream for example) are always priced higher than the same products geared toward men, and typically, the men's products work even better!

Landfills and recycling centers tell us a lot about our communities and purchasing habits. What did you glean from your tour?

It is important for everyone to recycle whenever possible to keep these materials out of landfills!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Study
As you have reduced your spending, what have you noticed about your 'health and safety' purchasing habits? How might this change your longer term purchasing decisions?

This is a much better way to keep track of spending and control spending habits as little purchases here and there add up in a big way in no time!

How does the act of picking up litter connect you more to your community?

Picking up litter in my community helps to show a sense of pride for where I live and will hopefully encourage others to do the same!

We would need 4.9 Earths if everyone lived like me...and I thought I was better than most with my recycling and reusing habits. I think I can make the most impact on my reduction by eating less meat daily

I have been using reusable grocery bags for years now so this has been super easy for me! Recently, I bought reusable produce bags so I am still getting in the habit of bringing those on shopping trips with me.
