Linda's actions
Kitchen
Plant a Garden
I will plant an herb or vegetable garden using as little plastic as possible and to save from the plastic used buying herbs and veggies.
Bedroom
Sunshine Bleached
I will hang-dry my laundry to use the sun as a natural bleach alternative, or use another natural bleach alternative.
Kitchen
Go Strawless
I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill per day by refusing straws or using my own reusable straw.
Family + Pets
Get Rid of Glitter
I will teach my little ones about microplastics while we do a craft project together using glitter alternatives.
Community
Advocate For Better Food Packaging
I will advocate for alternatives to single use packaging at local grocery stores, markets, or work.
Community
Keep My Community Clean
I will pick up 5 piece(s) of litter each day.
Study
Plastic History Buff
Single-use plastics are everywhere, but that wasn't always the case. I will spend at least 15 minutes learning about the history of single-use plastics and how it became ubiquitous in our daily lives.
Kitchen
Try a New Recipe
I will try new recipe(s) or food preparation method(s) each day, such as canning, pickling, making yogurt, or baking granola bars or bread.
Kitchen
Skip Plastic Bags
When possible, I will not use disposable bags when shopping, including produce bags.

REFLECTION QUESTIONKitchenHow do you feel about being more involved in the food preparation process? Joyful, overwhelmed, engaged, empowered? What are the benefits of choosing to process or produce your own food instead of buying it pre-processed?
Linda Forlifer 7/30/2023 8:44 AMWhen I do my own food prep, I control the ingredients. The resulting food is always healthier, fresher, and less expensive. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONKitchenBesides having access to fresh herbs and vegetables, what benefits will you see from growing your own garden?
Linda Forlifer 7/29/2023 3:42 AMNative plants have really confirmed what I read about supporting our ecosystem. The mountain mint, goldenrod, joe pye weed, etc., grow well and are covered with all sorts of bees and flies I never noticed before. The insect life obviously prefers the natives!
