Bedroom
Practice Sustainable Fashion
I will spend 60 minutes learning about the costs of fast fashion and begin trying to practice sustainable fashion in my own life.
Bathroom
Sustainable Suds
I will replace my soaps, shampoos, conditioners, and lotions with sustainable, unpackaged, or refillable options.
Bathroom
Green Beauty
When it's time to buy more, I will replace my beauty products with refillable, sustainable, and/or DIY options.
Kitchen
Switch to Loose Leaf Tea
Because many tea bags and most sleeves and sachets contain plastic, I will switch to using loose leaf tea.
Kitchen
Plant a Garden
I will plant an herb or vegetable garden using as little plastic as possible and to save from the plastic used buying herbs and veggies.
Kitchen
Minimize Packaging
I will purchase food items with the least amount of packaging.
Bathroom
See the Green
I will recycle used contact lenses and packaging.
Bathroom
A Sustainable Flow
I will make the switch to sustainable, reusable period products.
Family + Pets
All Natural Pet Toys
I will give my pets natural alternatives to toys like femur bones and antlers, canvas, natural rubber, hemp, rope or cotton toys. Or make our own toys from recycled items found in our home!
Community
Keep My Community Clean
I will pick up 5 piece(s) of litter each day.
Community
Support a Sharing Economy
I will create or support a sharing economy with family, friends, and neighbors.
Study
Say No to Styrofoam
Throughout its life cycle, polystyrene (styrofoam) can harm people, communities, and the planet. I will refuse styrofoam whenever I can, making sure to kindly let people know why I'm asking for alternative packaging.

Jessica Deville 7/29/2023 7:18 PMJust joined my first TerraCycle program! One of my kitties needs a prescription diet which so happens to be a Royal Canin product. The brand offers a FREE TerraCycle program to recycle the bags the kibble comes in. Fingers crossed they'll take it further and use more eco-friendly packaging to begin with soon, but this is a great first step! 🐈⬛ -
Jessica Deville 7/28/2023 9:32 PMWorking on re-starting a balcony herb garden (recently moved into a new place). I have a few non #1/#2 plastic containers that I'm going to repurpose into herb pots, and have my first basil plantings ready to pot thanks to some cuttings from a co-worker! 🌿 -
Jessica Deville 7/28/2023 9:28 PMRecently learned that Vintage Green Review in nola accepts contact lenses for recycling! I plan to start a new routine of bringing my used lenses there and to check out their refillable bath products selection, two birds and all 😊 -
Jessica Deville 7/13/2023 9:14 AMSpending the morning as a Plastic Free July advocate! The Audubon Zoo guest engagement team put together a pop-up interpretive table to share info about PFJ with zoo guests. I've set the table up near our sea lion habitat today to tie in messaging about how plastics affect marine species!

Jessica Deville 7/02/2023 2:53 PMVisited the Audubon Aquarium & Insectarium with family today (shout out to the downtown folks, y'all are killing it! 👍🦈🦋) and got lunch from one of the food trucks parked out front afterwards. The Mo Fries guys not only serve up some delicious loaded fries, but they plate it all up in paper containers and have canned drinks, rather than styrofoam or plastic containers and cups. They do still hand out single use plastic forks, but something is better than nothing! #almostplasticfreelunch -
Jessica Deville 7/02/2023 2:44 PMFound a great new tea shop in my area that not only brews loose leaf, but also prides itself on being a very low waste, green business in general! I recently purchased one of their glass jugs which can be refilled with any brew upon return. Any fellow Northshore folks, be sure to check out UR Teas in Mandeville for all of "UR" tea needs! 🫖☕️
