Some of these challenges have been easy and some have been more difficult. There are some items available in more sustainable packaging, like dairy products, but the choice is limited.

I’m hoping for some relief from the heat, and maybe even some rain, so I can start walking in the Bosque and picking up trash along the trails. It’s somehow more satisfying to clean up trails than parking lots.

It's still way too hot to hit a park or trail to pick up trash, but parking lots still provide ample opportunities!

I’ve been really lax in picking up trash this summer. It’s just been too hot to go out, even in the morning. I use to walk the Bosque 3 times a week and picked up 2 bags or more of trash each time! Now I just pick up trash on my street or In parking lots.I can’t wait till summer is over.

This challenge makes me aware of so much unnecessary plastic. I always stock up on microwave dinners for a quick meal. I now look for the ones in paper bowls and trays rather than plastic.

With the added mindfulness of reducing your packaging, what have you noticed about the amount and type of single use plastics used for packaging when you shop in the grocery store?

I shopped in my garden instead of the store and needed no packaging at all.

Too busy cleaning and reorganizing to leave home, but I did manage to pick up trash blown in around my yard. Tomorrow I’ll pick up the remains of all the illegal fireworks in my neighborhood.

Thanks Fran! I observed several discolored spots on my street from folks lighting fireworks. I will hand it to one house, they seemed to have picked up all the leftover entrails of the fireworks, so there's that!
