REFLECTION QUESTIONKitchenHow difficult was this challenge for you? What made it easy or difficult?
Alex Chubb 7/05/2023 8:18 PMFor me it was quite easy to skip the plastic bags. I feel like I’m society it’s totally normal to bring your own plastic bags to a store/place. And make places have reusable bags abalone for people to buy so it’s not really hard to access. For me the accessibility is what made this challenge the easiest -
REFLECTION QUESTIONStudyAs you have reduced your spending, what have you noticed about your 'health and safety' purchasing habits? How might this change your longer term purchasing decisions?
Alex Chubb 7/04/2023 1:57 PMWell in only purchasing the things that I need, I find myself trying to occupy my time with doing something else. Personally, I like to shop a lot so it’s a bit difficult at first but I made it. Now I make sure to just go in the store and get what I need and immediately leave no more just hanging around the store lol. The long run I feel like I would be much more conscious about what I want to get. Doing this challenge helped me a lot when it comes to managing my money. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBedroomWas this an easy or difficult swap for you to make? Did you have any concerns before making the swap?
Alex Chubb 7/02/2023 1:00 PMI haven’t swapped my detergent yet but I feel like my main concern before I swap my detergent is if it will irritate my skin. I have very sensitive skin and I’ve been only using tide (for all my life) so I wonder how this will affect my skin. I mean maybe it will make my skin better… I have no clue what ingredients goes into my detergent so maybe a homage brand is better for me -
Alex Chubb 7/02/2023 12:54 PMSo grateful for the silverware that the aquarium gave us during training week. With out it this month would just be tragic for me -
Alex Chubb 7/02/2023 11:33 AMI started this month with two tote bags…. I think imma have to buy a few more to keep up with my grocery shopping…-

REFLECTION QUESTIONKitchenDo an inventory of your kitchen to see how many single-use plastics you've used in the past. What are some resuable alternatives to these commonly used products? What would your impact be if you switched all the single-use products from your inventory to reusable?
Alex Chubb 7/02/2023 11:22 AMOmg. Ok so I’m in the store and I’m going to make a pasta salad. Pretty simple only bout 5 ingredients all prep no cooking (aside from the pasta) so I’m in the store and I pick up some cucumbers. And that comes in a plastic bag (it’s the one provided by the store when you want to get something that’s individually wrapped) and I’m like “Dang. So much for plastic free” and the I go get carrots (and I’m on a budget here so I’m getting the cheapest one) and the (baby) carrots are in plastic! Like omg is there something that’s not in plastic for crying out loud. And then I go to get pasta and it’s in a cardboard box… WITH A PLASTIC WINDOW (so you can see the pasta) LIKE FOR CRYING OUT LOUD THAT WAS SO UNNECESSARY. I feel like the only way to avoid plastic is if the ingredients are like Fresh (from the farmers markets) and sometimes that can get expensive. Well I’m off to write some letters to someone bout this…
