Study
Numbers Everywhere
The numbers #1-7 on plastics tell us a lot - and can help us be better recyclers. I will learn what these numbers mean and which types of plastics are accepted for recycling in my area.

REFLECTION QUESTIONStudyWere you surprised by what the different plastic identification numbers mean? How can this information help you become a better recycler?
Mary Bronson 7/31/2023 8:47 PMI did know a few things about the numbers on plastic items, but still learned a lot. The best way to help our environment is to limit the amount of plastic we use every day. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunityIn what ways is social media an effective tool for sharing your values?
Mary Bronson 7/23/2023 9:01 PMSocial media can help to make people more aware of ways they can stop using plastic and use alternative products in their everyday lives. By sharing ways to do this, we are sharing our values and concern for our environment. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONKitchenHow difficult was this challenge for you? What made it easy or difficult?
Mary Bronson 7/21/2023 7:32 PMThe more I use produce bags and refuse plastic bags by bringing my own cotton bags, it becomes much easier. It makes me sad to think of how many plastic bags are used by people that don't care about the environment. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBedroomWhat are the benefits (to people, animals, and the environment) of purchasing clothes made with natural fibers?
Mary Bronson 7/21/2023 7:27 PMBy using clothes made with natural fibers, we don't pollute the rivers, streams and oceans. Therefore, we save the fish that live in those waters. -
Mary Bronson 7/17/2023 7:18 PMI joined the challenge to help the environment I live in. We need to care for it or we will have even more devastating changes than what we are experiencing now. If everyone would do their part, we would have a better world. It is wonderful to know that many people are trying to change their habits because of this challenge! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunityHow does the act of picking up litter connect you more to your community?
Mary Bronson 7/16/2023 6:01 PMIt helps me to feel like I am an important part of my community because I am doing my part in keeping it clean and waste free. The trash then is put into the proper containers to be recycled also. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBedroomThe simple act of hang drying your laundry can be an act of mindfulness. Where else in your daily routine can you make mindfulness a practice?
Mary Bronson 7/13/2023 9:26 PMI can use glass food containers instead of plastic and use a molded lid instead of saran wrap. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBathroomWhat is the benefit of using bar soaps or refilling your travel sized containers? Is this an action you think you will keep in your life?
Mary Bronson 7/08/2023 8:01 AMWhen you use bar soap it lasts so much longer than a bottle of body wash, is better for sensitive skin and saves plastic containers from being thrown in the trash. I have been using bar soap for over a year and won't go back to body wash in plastic containers. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONKitchenHow easy was this swap for you? Did you have any concerns before making it?
Mary Bronson 7/05/2023 7:28 PMI switched from body wash to bar soap and I like it better and so does my skin. I'm saving plastic from going into the landfill also.
